A beautiful Donegal Wedding at Rockhill House.

I knew I wanted to shoot Aoife and James’s wedding from their first contact. They met when their were both studying and have been together ever since. From just reading her initial enquiry I knew they were fun, chilled and just wanted their day to be full and family and friends. We share a mutual love for Donegal, but lets be honest, who doesn’t, and so I jumped at the chance to be part of their day. And in a new venue I hadn’t been to before, Rockhill House. A beautiful old Manor house surrounded in acres of woodland, it’s any nature lovers dream. Heading up the long driveway to the entrance I had my first pangs of excitement.

Arriving in to meet Aoife and her family I couldn’t have had a warmer welcome. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, that always eases any nerves I have. And it was great to see the talented Tippy was doing the make-up so it felt like we were all hanging out with friends. Meeting James and his crew was just as easy, such a lovely group of guys.

They had a beautiful service in a quaint little chapel in the middle of nowhere. The priest gave us a little tip to ignore the ‘No entry’ sign on the gate outside and take a wonder down the lane at the back of the carpark. And I’m so glad we did because we literally stumbled onto the edge of the world into the most peaceful scene, with stretched out waters and grassy banks and mountains.

The dance floor!

The night ended with one of the best dance floors I’ve ever seen. The photos don’t do it justice. One of the best band’s I’ve heard, The Dreamband, were incredible. All other bands need to take notes from their lead singer Jo, an all round an amazing group.
